Project Manager

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week. Days and schedules may vary.
REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer (COO)

SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of commercial distributed solar and solar-plus-storage construction projects from post-contract execution through final completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards by coordinating closely with external EPCs, engineers, subcontractors, hosts, landlords, investors, and internal team members. The Project Manager brings strong technical acumen in solar and storage development, excels at managing cross-functional internal and external relationships, and ensures strict adherence to internal processes, contractual obligations, and reporting requirements, with the ability to provide creative solutions when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be extremely well-versed in and be the primary person to uphold and execute the requirements, deadlines, and other obligations of executed EPC agreements and construction-related deliverables in associated documents and contracts (PPA/SSA, MIPA, Leases, etc.).

  • Manage and monitor construction progress across multiple projects by coordinating with EPCs, third-party engineers, and subcontractors.

  • Obtain, manage, approve, and record key project documents as they relate to EPC contract scope of work and deliverables (permitting, design/site plans, interconnection, surveys and reports, floodplain and wetlands, parcel/plat maps, etc.)

  • Lead and facilitate recurring project meetings with EPC partners and independent engineers to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely resolution of issues. Develop, track, and maintain detailed internal construction schedules based off these meetings.

  • Review, validate, and approve technical deliverables and proof-of-progress documentation to confirm milestone completion against contract requirements. Coordinate approval and payment with accounting team.

  • Organize, track, and maintain all project documentation and deliverables within internal systems (CRM Capsule, Google Workspace) and external partner data rooms.

  • Support external investor and financing transactions by compiling, responding to, and filing required due diligence documentation.

  • Review project acquisition due diligence materials related to design, production modeling, permitting, and property matters.

  • Provide clear, timely internal reporting on project status, risks, and challenges; proactively develop and present cost-effective and sometimes creative solutions to mitigate delays and resolve issues.

  • Work closely with legal counsel and executive leadership to identify, escalate, and resolve legal, contractual, or business issues arising during the construction phase.

  • Track critical dates to ensure project viability and compliance with regulatory, contractual, and industry deadlines.

  • Partner with the Development Team to ensure a seamless transition from contract negotiation to project execution with offtakers and EPC partners.

  • Coordinate with the Asset Manager as projects approach mechanical completion to ensure warranties are secured, monitoring systems are properly configured prior to PTO, and post-energization issues are identified and resolved promptly.

  • Collaborate with the Asset Manager on solving on-site issues and technical concerns and report out to executive team, as needed.

  • Coordinate with the COO to prepare consistent project reporting and actively participate in problem-solving discussions with commercial solar clients and financing partners.

  • Identify and communicate with executive leadership regarding business decisions, contract changes, and amendments across all projects under construction.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Minimum Associate's degree and 5+ years’ work experience in related fields. Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in project management, construction management, or similar field preferred.

  • Strong solar and solar + storage development technical acumen

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills

  • Process and detailed-oriented

  • Strong organization and project management skills

  • Contract management and delivery

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position currently has no internal supervisory role but may in the future. Does have a supervisory role over independent engineer and interfaces regularly with Asset Manager.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
In-office work at our headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado at least twice per week (Tuesday and Thursday) required for this position

May occasionally be requested to travel nationally to worksites

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position consists of computer work, with potentially for meetings with partners and site visits at commercial properties.
