Democratizing Wealth with Investments in Climate Change Solutions

A Collaboration for the Community by The Solaris Companies, Vermont’s Putney School, Elm Lea Renewable Energy, LLC and Raise Green

Colorado-based Solaris Investment Group (SIG) and Solaris Energy (collectively “The Solaris Companies”) have just announced a crowdfunding raise backed by a 446.4 kW solar energy project located on The Putney School’s high school campus in Vermont (link to offer page). SIG provided the sponsor equity to build the solar project, which was developed and built in 2015 and is managed by Solaris Energy as a part of its portfolio of nearly 10 MWs over 70 solar energy project sites across the United States. The Solaris Companies have partnered with Raise Green, a crowdfunding investor marketplace dedicated to climate action projects, to allow accredited and non-accredited investors to provide late stage debt supporting this critical multi generational climate solution.

This project provides 28 buildings on Putney School’s campus with clean, renewable and reliable energy and is the cornerstone of the school’s goal to be a completely carbon neutral campus. The solar project itself truly embodies the concept of greener pastures by not only creating a better future, but physically sharing space with grazing sheep. This is part of the associated Elm Lea farm that students help run through the school’s unique curriculum, which has provided both education and a model of sustainability as a way of life for its students over the past 80 years.

The project is also close to the heart of SIG’s managing member and CEO of Solaris Energy, Alex Blackmer, who is an alumnus of the school, “I’m so excited to share a piece of my personal journey for this crowdfunding opportunity. The project brings together a community that cared for me with our company’s vision of a climate-friendly future for all, and fair and democratized wealth for our nation’s people.”

By being a part of crowdfunding, investors are helping democratize investment opportunities that would otherwise provide revenue streams for large financial institutions and banks. This project redirects that wealth back to the crowdfunding investors who support on-the-ground, real climate change solutions.

This investment offering on Raise Green allows people all across the U.S. an opportunity to contribute to a piece of a values-driven student and community-focused project, with an opportunity to earn money on electricity from the sun. It is an opportunity for everyday investors and community members to be a part of a brighter future for the next generation while supporting a project that directly impacts those youth and all of us right now.

To help spread the word, Solaris Energy developed an outreach toolkit, which anyone is welcome to use. Due to federal legalities, it is highly recommended that users copy & paste the sample content exactly as it is displayed. Solaris Energy and Solaris Investment Group are not responsible for any alternative language used to promote this offering.
